this is probably the most difficult i've had to make in nursing so far.
what colour?!
please help me.
anyway, back to the books.i was studying for my health, science and society course and was reading that social determinants are often much more impactful on health than individual behaviours. the textbook displayed two lists of '10 tips' for better health. the first is something you would see a bit more normally, and as mentioned above, individual changes can make some sort of impact on health, though maybe not as impacting as we believe. the second list... well it's interesting. i hope i am never expected to give these tips as a nurse.the 'traditional' list:the 'social determinants' list:
- don't smoke. if you can, stop, if you can't cut down.
- follow a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables.
- keep physically active.
- manage stress by, for example, talking things through and making time to relax.
- if you drink alcohol, do so in moderation
- cover up in the sun, and protect children from sunburn
- practice safer sex
- take up cancer screening opportunities
- be safe on the roads: follow the Highway Code
- learn the First Aid ABCs: airways, breathing, circulation.
- don't be poor. If you can, stop. If you can't, try not to be poor for long.
- don't have poor parents
- own a car.
- don't work in a stressful, low paid manual job
- don't live in damp, low quality housing
- be able to afford to go on a foreign holiday and sunbathe
- practice not losing your job and don't become unemployed
- take up all benefits you are entitled to, if you are unemployed, retired or sick or disabled
- don't live next to a busy major road or near a polluting factory
- learn how to fill the complex housing benefit/asylum application forms before you become homeless and destitute

I believe we write our own stories. And each time we think we know the end...
... we don't.
Perhaps luck exists somewhere between...the world of planning, the world of chance...
and in the peace that comes from knowing...that you just can't know it all.
You know, life's funny that way. Once you let go of the wheel, you might end up...
... right where you belong.Bean: John Lennon said, "Life happens when you're busy making other plans."
Stacy: Then he got shot.
Bean: Right.You just gotta live.
Stop planning your moves.
Let them happen. I mean, you might be surprised. My life is OBVIOUSLY not that dramatic. But how can you go through life and NOT change?
When your life falls into what APPEARS to be chaos, how can you not come out the other end looking at everything differently?
